BIS has notified eight new electronic categories for compulsory registration. Check whether your imports are affected.
The Bureau of Indian Standards has expanded the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) to eight additional electronic product categories, with enforcement phased over the next two quarters.
If you import any of the affected items, your supplier's factory must hold a valid BIS R-number before the goods can clear customs. Shipping without it risks detention and re-export at your cost.
